Rutilated Quartz, Gold Pendant

Using this claw stone-holding style of wire wrapping makes it easy to show off faceted stones. This is a faceted (emerald cut, I think) rutilated quartz. The rutile - the little little spikes of color running through the clear quartz - is more reddish than I usually see, but it doesn't make the stone any less pretty. I wrapped the gemstone with gold filled wire and gave it a similar flourish to my green lab pendant. Can you tell, I just got a fabulous new camera with a great close-up lens
